What is PEA -palmitoylethanolamide?

PEA is a supplement that in the 1970s was sold in tablets as a treatment for influenza and other respiratory diseases. The product was available, for example, in Czechoslovakia and Spain. At the time, its analgesic effect was also studied and it was observed to be on par with aspirin.(1)

From a chemical point of view, PEA is an amide of fatty acids. It is produced naturally in our body, it is also found in food - mainly in soy lecithin, soybeans, egg yolks and peanuts. Its characteristic feature is the ability to influence the endocannabinoid system, as well as to strengthen the processes that lead to the reduction of inflammation and pain relief. PEA cannot be classified as typical cannabinoids, as it lacks affinity for CB1 and CB2 receptors. However, it affects them indirectly. The mechanism of its action in the endocannabinoid system is to increase the level of anandamide and strengthen its activity. Anandamide is our internal cannabinoid that stimulates CB1 and CB2 receptors, deepening our inner peace and relieving the sensation of pain. It also increases the feeling of pleasure and regulates our motivation.(1,2,3,4).

Product contains no dyes or preservatives. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
