What is Andrographis?

Andrographis (Andrographis paniculata) is an annual plant that comes from tropical Asian countries, it is mainly found in China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, as well as in the countries of Southeast Asia. The herb is reputed to be the most bitter plant in the world. Nevertheless, it is currently grown mainly in Thailand, India and China. Its great advantage is that it easily adapts to new conditions, but it prefers moist and dark places. It is characterized by a green stem, lanceolate leaves, purple flowers and berry-like fruits.

What is Andrographis good for?

The main ingredients that can be found in andrographis are neoangrapholide and andrographolide. In addition to them, we can distinguish equally valuable tannins, saponins, flavonoids and sitosterols.

Tip

Andrographis can be used together with Russian root (Eleutherococcus senticosus) during sensitive periods.
