What is Andrographis?

Andrographis (Andrographis paniculata) is an annual plant that comes from tropical Asian countries, it is mainly found in China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, as well as in the countries of Southeast Asia. The herb is reputed to be the most bitter plant in the world. Nevertheless, it is currently grown mainly in Thailand, India and China. Its great advantage is that it easily adapts to new conditions, but it prefers moist and dark places. Andrographis is characterized by a green stem, lanceolate leaves, purple flowers and berry-like fruits.

What is Andrographis good for?

This plant is used in Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine as a means of strengthening the body and its defense mechanisms. In addition, Andrographis paniculata is an exceptionally bitter-tasting plant that has a beneficial effect on the digestive system and supports proper metabolism.

The main ingredients that can be found in andrographis are neoangrapholide and andrographolide. In addition to them, we can distinguish equally valuable tannins, saponins, flavonoids and sitosterols.

Andrographis can be used together with Russian root (Eleutherococcus senticosus) during sensitive periods.

Ingredients: Andrographis (Andrographis paniculata) dried herb

Dosage: Infusion - pour 2.5 dl of boiling water over 1 tablespoon of dried herb. Cook under the lid for 20 min. Strain. Drink 1 glass of infusion a day, preferably in several small portions.

Andrographis can cause allergy in some cases!
