Red sage occurrence

Most people have probably heard of sage (Salvia officinalis), but the unique variety of this plant is red sage (Salvia miltiorrhiza), also called: "Chinese sage".

Red sage grows naturally in East Asia in sunny forests, on hillsides and by rivers and lakes. This perennial herb is characterized by a red root and flowers between June and September.

What is red sage root good for?

In Asia, red sage root has been used for over 2,000 years. It found its place in traditional Chinese medicine thanks to the properties of its root. Sage root was used for cardiovascular diseases, after a heart attack, for high blood pressure, atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease. Sage root is also a valued addition to skin and hair care products.

The plant has antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. These properties make it an excellent complement to face, hair and body care products.

Contraindications and side effects

When it comes to sage, however, there are certain contraindications and they apply to all its species. Sage's properties may interfere with other medications being taken, so this herb (including supplements) should not be used if you are taking antidepressants, drugs that affect the nervous system, anticoagulants, or blood thinners.

Pregnant and nursing women should also refrain from sage supplements at this time. Also remember not to exceed the doses recommended by the manufacturer.

Regular use of red sage lowers blood sugar levels by approximately 20-30 mg/dl.

Ingredients: tincture Salviae miltiorrhizae 1:1

Red sage root, certified ethyl alcohol, distilled water, vegetable glycerin.

Part of plant used: root

Ethanol content in the tincture: 50%.

Dosage: 1 portion of the pipette, up to three times a day. Dilute one serving in ½ cup water or juice.

1 scoop (pipette) corresponds to approx. 0.5 ml

Contents of the recommended daily portion (1.5 ml):

1.5 ml extract of red sage root.

Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.

The product contains approx. 200 mg of alcohol per portion, which corresponds to 5 ml of beer or 2.1 ml of wine.

Storage: store in a closed container at room temperature, out of the reach of small children. Protect from light and moisture. Sediment is a natural phenomenon.
