Rose bush occurrence

Roses are tall shrubs from the rose family (Rosaceae). Shrubs can be upright or climbing. There are about 200 species spread from subtropical to cold temperate areas. The trunks and branches are clothed with coarse, curved spines or bristles. Only in exceptional cases are the branches smooth. The leaves are paired and blue-green, glabrous or sparsely hairy. Most species are deciduous. The sepals are five, rarely four, entire or lobed in various forms. The fruit is a rosehip and consists of several drooping nuts enclosed in a mock fruit. The bushes are quite resistant to frost and drought.

What is rosehip good for?

Fruits of rose bushes are used as a universal remedy and to make wine, tea and jams. Even the seeds are edible, oil is extracted from the seeds. Rose hips are valued for their ingredients, they contain vitamins A, B1, B2, E, K and P, as well as flavonoids, folic acid and tannins. Fruits contain ten times more vitamin C than black currants.

At home, with little effort, we can prepare the juice ourselves and store it for autumn and winter, during which we are exposed to a decline in immunity and diseases. The recipe is very simple.

To prepare your own rosehip juice, pour warm (not boiling) water in the proportions of 200 ml per 2 tablespoons of fruit (can be chopped), after 15 minutes, strain and pour water again, this time boiling water with the addition of citric acid. .

After 15 minutes, strain again and squeeze the remaining fruit through a strainer to get even more juice. Both parts of the liquid should be combined, poured into small glass vessels and pasteurized so that the juice is not spoiled.

This juice can be added to tea, drunk neat or mixed with water and drunk as a cold drink. Regarding the recommended daily intake, the information on this substance varies, from 50 ml to even a whole glass. However, there are no studies showing that one can overdose on rosehip juice, which would result in any side effects.

tincture: is a wonderful, natural remedy.

To prepare the herbal tincture, simply cover ½ kg of rosehips with a glass of sugar and pour ¾ liter of pure vodka. Place the jar with the ingredients in a warm place and shake it every few days.

After a week, strain the mixture through cloth and pour it into a dark bottle, which we then store in the refrigerator. You can add honey and lemon instead of sugar.
