Presence of Meadowsweet

Also called mead wort, it belongs to rosaceae plants and grows throughout Sweden on moist meadows, by ditches and roadsides. It grows 1-1.5 meters high. The plant usually does not bloom until after midsummer, i.e. from June to August. The flowers are creamy white and strongly scented, the scent can be slightly reminiscent of honey. They attract insects that take care of pollination. However, there is no nectar in the flowers for them to take, so they settle for pollen.

What is Meadowsweet good for?

Due to large amounts of glycosides that are converted into salicylic substances in the body, Meadowsweet flower has a natural effect in the body. Tea made from Meadowsweet flower can be good during times of cold. The leaves can also be used to make Meadowsweet juice. The herb also contains mucus substances that provide protection to the mucous membranes in the body.

In addition to salicylic acid and mucus substances,Meadowsweet contains essential oil and vitamin C.

Some people may be hypersensitive to salicylic acid.

Ingredients: Meadowsweet whole herb (Filipendula ulmaria)

Dosage: Pour 2.5 dl of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoons of herb and let steep for 5-10 min.
