Dandelion origin

Dandelion grows mainly on lawns, meadows and pastures and is common in Sweden. Flowers with an intense yellow color in April and May. Treated as a persistent weed by landowners and farmers.

What are dandelion roots good for?

Dandelion roots are rich in, among other things, bitter substances, tannins, mucilage substances and pectin. Bitter substances have a stimulating effect on both digestion and the liver. Digestion by stimulating both the production of bile, which helps break down fat, and the pancreas where some of our digestive enzymes come from. The herb also contains minerals such as iron, calcium, folic acid and magnesium, as well as vitamins C and A.

Dandelion root is often used as a tea. Good to flavor with e.g. cardamom.

Ingredients: dandelion root (Taraxaci radix)

Dosage: Pour 2.5 dl of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoons of herb and let steep for 5-10 min.

Storage: Dry and dark.
