Many people consider sedge as a common knotgrass that grows by the roadside but also by the river. However, this small plant has valuable properties.
Most often, the infusion of wort is drunk. It is mainly rich in flavonoids, responsible for the main effects of the herb. It also contains sugars, tannins, essential oil, organic acids (including salicylic acid), mineral salts (with a high content of well-absorbed silica) and vitamins (provitamin A, vitamin C and K). The diuretic properties of this herb have been used since ancient times. It also has anti-inflammatory (among other things due to the content of salicylic acid), astringent and detoxifying properties.
