Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that comprises eight different molecules: four tocopherols (alpha, beta, gamma and delta) and four tocotrienols (alpha, beta, gamma and delta). Vitamin E is one of the strongest antioxidants that protects against free radicals. This vitamin also protects polyunsaturated fatty acids from oxidizing. Lack of vitamin E can lead to anemia (blood deficiency) by oxidizing red blood cells and various neurological problems.
Where is vitamin E found?
It is produced only in plants. The natural sources of this compound are mainly vegetable oils - sunflower, rapeseed and corn. It is worth knowing that cold-pressed oils contain about 75% more vitamin E than those obtained through refining. Foods rich in vitamin E also include: walnuts and peanuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, whole grains and vegetables, including cabbage, spinach and lettuce.
