Heather (Calluna Vulgaris) is a beautiful plant that blooms purple in late summer/autumn. Heather flowers are used, among other things, for herbal tea. Suitable as an evening tea together with e.g. chamomile flowers and lavender flowers, but can also be drunk during the day. Heather origin

Heather is an evergreen shrub originating in Europe. It appears from August to mid-autumn. Popular in Swedish gardens as an ornamental plant. The plant blooms with small purple flowers that have been used in folk medicine for centuries. It was considered a natural aid in urinary tract infections.

Heather flowers uses

Dried heather flowers can be used for herbal tea / infusion or as an ingredient in your own tea mixture. In taste, the herb is a little floral and a little bitter. Can be sweetened if desired.

Heather flowers are suitable for other herbs such as e.g. lavender flower, chamomile flower or lemon balm. An infusion brewed from these herbs is soothing and relaxing during long and stressful days.

Did you know that heather flowers can be successfully used in DIY & crafts - especially in making your own hair and skin care.

Heather honey is also very popular and it is not strange, ingredients extracted from the heather flower and its extraordinary aroma make this honey very desirable and valuable.

Heather contains active ingredients such as calcium, silicic acid, flavone glycosides, tannins, the phenol glycoside arbutin, and small amounts of essential oil.

Dosage: about 1 tablespoon of flowers, pour 2 cups of boiling water. Infuse covered for about 30 minutes.
