Witch hazel occurrence

What is witch hazel good for?

The herb was traditionally used by North American Indians as a remedy for wounds and burns. Nowadays witch hazel bark is widely used in cosmetology for body care, skin irritations and redness.

Witch hazel extract is often added to creams, lotions and soaps, especially those intended for sensitive and allergic skin. Due to its astringent effect, witch hazel bark is also perfect for the care of problematic and lax skin.

Products containing witch hazel extract tighten the skin, improve its color, seal the blood vessels and reduce the secretion of sweat and sebum. Witch hazel water (a distillate of witch hazel leaves and twigs) is often used to wash the face, giving it a fresh appearance and reducing fatigue symptoms. Facial serum containing witch hazel extract effectively reduces puffiness and dark circles under the eyes. Due to its versatile effects, witch hazel has many practical applications. The plant is perfect as an ingredient in handmade beauty products - creams, soaps and toners or it can also be an original addition to a bath.

Witch hazel bark contains, among other things: gallic acid, tannins, saponins, fat (0.6%), waxes, essential oil (approx. 0.5%) and resins.
