Devil's Claw occurrence

Devil's Claw also called Harpago (hook/claw) is native to South Africa, including the Kalahari Desert, this creeper is a perennial plant belonging to the Sesame family, Pedaliaceae family. The trunk grows along the ground and becomes approximately 1.5 meters long. The plant has bell-shaped flowers, with a yellow pipe and with a purple, red or pink crown. Fruits are sharp and attach like a hook to animals that pass by and can easily injure them - hence its name.

What is devil's claw good for

For hundreds of years, this herb has been used by local people to treat a variety of conditions. It is above all the root that has interesting properties and is used as a natural remedy. Roots contain active substances such as iridoids, flavonoids, essential oil and phenolic acids.
