The herb is a perennial plant that belongs to the pea family. Grows between 20 and 50 centimeters high. Blooms from July to September with pink flowers in the folds of the leaves. Smelly. It is common in Europe and also in Asia, mainly in dry, sometimes sandy places.

Spiny restharrow uses

Many valuable active substances have been isolated from the root of Spiny restharrow of which the most important are: flavonoids (mainly: ononin, onospin), triterpenes (onocerine), tannins, organic salts, resins and essential oils.

The use of Spiny restharrow dates back to ancient times. In the Middle Ages it was cultivated in gardens along with other herbs. A decoction of the root was used to cleanse the body. The ancient Greeks and Romans used the herb for kidney problems, to remove sand and small stones.

Ingredients: Spiny restharrow dried root (Ononis spinosa)

Dosage: 1 teaspoon (approx. 4 g) to 2.5 dl hot water. Leave for 15 minutes. Drink three times a day.

Storage: Store in a dry and cool place, out of the reach of small children.
